In this session Judy Ryan, CEO of Life Works System https://www.lifeworksystems.com and Felix Nater, CSC, President & Chief Security Consultant at Nater Associates Ltd. discuss workplace culture, “When Everyone Wins” relative to Workplace Violence Prevention as alternative strategies to the management of workplace conflict. Judy Ryan’s believes in a holistic philosophy so that everyone has a healthy sense of belonging and significance within themselves and with others. Felix Nater on the other hand agrees and sees a role for leaders important in creating that support. However, the lack of trust between the workforce and management inhibits substantive dialogue, and that mutual investment in preventing the employee-on-employee conflicts and threats of violence is an organizational challenge. There is agreement between Ryan and Nater that achieving an effective workplace violence prevention initiative is based on the importance of getting the input of employees and demonstrate how leadership will respond to their feedback. Leadership transparency is important in creating mutually supportive processes that produce long-lasting results.
